Communication
Good parent-teacher communication is important for a successful school year for your child. I look at us as a team! :) Throughout the year, I will communicate with you through notes, telephone calls, newsletters, my website, report cards and parent teacher conferences. I will send home a note every Friday in your child's folder outlining what we have been working on that week, and anything important coming up. I encourage you to contact me anytime with questions and/or concerns.

· Arrival
If you are dropping off or picking up your child, please use the entrance at the front of the school. Buses will drop/pick up kids on near the east entrance only (no cars). Please follow these guidelines to ensure the safety of all of our kids. All students must be in the classroom by 8:30am. Children who arrive after 8:25 will be marked tardy.
· Before School
Adult supervision on the playgrounds begins at 8:10am. Please do not drop your children off before this time. Children are required to use the playground before school and not enter the building unless they are eating breakfast.
· Dismissal
If your child is riding the bus, please come prepared with their bus number and bus stop. The first few weeks it is important to have this information in order to get your children home safely. If you are picking up your child, I will need information as to who is authorized to pick your child up. *If any of your child's transportation information ever changes, you NEED to let me know. I will need a note pinned to your child or phone call from PARENTS no later than 2PM. You can email me BY 9AM that day, and I'll send you a confirmation. Or you can call the office BY 2PM and let them know and they will make sure I get the message.
· Breakfast
Breakfast begins each morning at 8:10am, and is located in the lunch commons. Cost of breakfast is $1.75. Breakfast is optional.
· Lunch
Lunch for Kindergarten will be at 11:40. School lunch is $2.90, but any amount of money can be placed on a child's lunch credit at anytime. They will be given lunch ID numbers at the beginning of the year that keeps track of this. If your child comes home with a "smiley stamp" on his/her hand, it means they need to bring lunch money. The children will eat their lunches in the cafeteria. A monthly menu of hot lunches will be sent home. Children will be allowed to choose their own lunches from the offered selections. To help children in making this decision, you may want to review the selections with your child in the morning.
· Snacks
Our classroom has a morning and afternoon snack (afternoon is optional and students are not forced to have it). In order to avoid confusing snacks with lunches, please send the morning snack in a separate bag or lunch box clearly labeled “snack”. For afternoon snack, I will ask once a month that parents bring in a LARGE box of snacks, with enough for the whole class (ex. Goldfish, pretzels, veggie straws, crackers, Cheerios, etc.) We are a nut-free classroom. I REALLY appreciate your contributions for our afternoon snacks.
· Conferences/Report Cards
We have parent/teacher conferences twice a year (November and March). All parents are expected to attend. The dates for the conferences will be announced in upcoming newsletters. These conferences are planned to discuss your child’s progress and offer you ideas on how to help your child succeed. Please try your best to make these meetings. If you ever feel the need to meet with me outside of these times, let me know and we can schedule a time. This is a great chance to ask any questions as well. Report cards will go home 3 times a year (November, March, and June).
· Volunteers
Can You Lend A Hand? Volunteers are very important to our kindergarten program. If you can volunteer please let me know on the questionnaire form. There are many tasks for volunteers and I will try to find one that best fits your needs.
It can be on a daily basis, or for parties during the year. We have 3 main parties: Halloween, Christmas, and Valentines Day. If you are interested, please let me know!
· Medications
The school nurse will administer all medications. Please contact the nurse if your child is to be given any medicine during school hours. If your child has asthma, you may want to consider leaving a spare inhaler with the nurse. Do not send medicine to school in your child’s bookbag. This includes cough drops or “sore throat lollipops”.
If Your Child is Sick…
If your child is sick, PLEASE keep them home. Sending them to school is not only difficult for them, but you are putting other children at risk. I have no problem, and will send them back home if I feel they are at risk and/or putting others at risk. PLEASE call the front office at 733-5302 if they are staying home ill that day
· Big 5 I know it is early to be thinking of winter, but it will be here before we know it. Your children will need to come to school wearing the "Big 5": Hat, gloves, boots, snowpants, and coat. Please LABEL all clothing! Our Lost and Found gets very full by the end of the winter! Typically, unless the temperature goes below 0 degrees, we go outside for recess—therefore the Big 5 is very important!
“Our school motto is "Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible".
Your child has the opportunity to earn Falcon Funds (reward tickets) for exhibiting these good behaviors. Once your child has earned 5 Falcon Funds, they can go to the Falcon "Nest" (school store) and buy a prize! We visit The Nest once a week on Fridays.
· Birthdays If you would like to celebrate your child's Birthday at school-that would be great! We celebrate birthdays during afternoon snack (1:00)—just touch base with me. Birthday Invitations-unless you are inviting the whole class, I do not permit invitations to be given out at school.
Toys: No toys at school please—keep them at home.
